The essence of hypertext links something visual with "associative message storage and retrieval methods". It is not necessary explicit and are often needed to be decoded. Thus, there are many examples of different types of hypertext such as the wampum and the world wide web. Hypertexts are also able to employ digital rhetoric to communicate nonlinear information.
